Houston Sports Live Launches “Gameday Houston,” a New On-Site High School Sports Desk Show Premiering During the 2026 Season

Debuts Spring 2026 • Exclusively on YouTube

Houston, TX — February 1, 2026 — Houston Sports Live today announced the launch of Gameday Houston, a brand-new on-site high school sports desk show debuting Saturday, February 28 at Willis High School as the Wildkats take on the Tomball Cougars, with a long-term vision to expand across all high school sports.

Inspired by the look, energy, and storytelling of major national studio shows, Gameday Houston brings a professional broadcast environment directly to high school campuses — transforming marquee matchups into full-scale event productions. The show will originate live from select high school venues across the Greater Houston area, featuring a custom on-site desk set, in-depth features, and real-time coverage built entirely around student-athletes, schools, and their communities.

Gameday Houston will be exclusively aired on YouTube on the Houston Sports Live YouTube channel and integrated into each and every broadcast across the HSL and affiliate partner networks, expanding access for fans, families, alumni, and college recruiters worldwide.

The show will be led by P.J. Heussner, former KWTX Fox 44 News Anchor, serving as the main host of Gameday Houston. Known for her on-air presence, storytelling ability, and experience in live broadcast environments, Heussner brings a major-market presentation style to the high school level.

Joining Heussner on the desk will be a rotating team of analysts, including Ty Turner, Sam Houston State University alum, along with additional hosts and analysts to be announced.

“Gameday Houston is about giving high school sports the stage they deserve,” said Jordan Smith, Founder and Executive Producer of Houston Sports Live. “We’re creating an experience that feels big, looks big, and treats these student-athletes like the elite competitors they are. This isn’t just a show — it’s a platform for schools, students, and communities.”

Built for Schools. Built for Students. Built for the Future.

Beyond live coverage, Gameday Houston is designed as both a showcase and a learning platform. Houston Sports Live will integrate student interaction and workforce development opportunities into each production, including:

  • On-site student media shadowing and mentorship
  • Live production experience in camera, audio, graphics, and broadcast operations
  • On-air interview and reporting opportunities for select students
  • Behind-the-scenes exposure to professional broadcast workflows

The goal is not only to spotlight athletes, but to actively develop the next generation of sports media professionals, giving participating schools a hands-on extension of their CTE, media, and journalism programs.

Each Gameday Houston broadcast will also highlight school culture — including athletic programs, student groups, coaches, and community traditions — turning every show into a full campus spotlight.
