Houston Sports Live Welcomes Varsity Wires as Affiliate, Expands High School Coverage

Houston Sports Live is proud to announce the acquisition of the Varsity Wires brand, officially adding the respected high school sports outlet to the Houston Sports Live affiliate network.

Founded by Zac Babb, Varsity Wires has built a strong reputation for authentic storytelling, timely reporting and passionate coverage of Cypress Fairbanks ISD high school athletics. As an affiliate of Houston Sports Live, Varsity Wires will continue operating under its own brand while gaining access to expanded production resources, broadcast capabilities and digital reach.

The acquisition also includes the continuation of Varsity Wires’ established broadcast agreement with CFISD. Through the Varsity Wires Radio Network, Houston Sports Live will carry forward live audio play-by-play coverage of select CFISD varsity athletic events, preserving the network’s existing relationships while expanding its technical and distribution capabilities.

The Varsity Wires Radio Network will operate as an affiliate within Houston Sports Live, further strengthening high school sports access across one of Texas’s largest school districts.

Fans can expect expanded written coverage, reimagined live audio broadcasts, game previews and recaps and enhanced digital storytelling across Houston Sports Live and Varsity Wires platforms in 2026 and beyond.
